Obituary

Richard Leon Jennings, age 87, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on October 6th at his home in Robin Run Retirement Village.
Richard (Dick) was born August 28, 1928 in Lodi, NY to Verner and Pearl (Huff) Jennings. Dick graduated from New York University - Alfred Technical Institute with an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering and later achieved a bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Maryland. He married Elise Harvey (from Houston, TX) December 16, 1950 in the chapel on Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. They were married for 61 years.
Dick served in the Air Force during the Korean War (3.5 years). After his time in the service, he worked for RCA on radar systems in Oklahoma, Maryland, New Jersey and Newfoundland, Canada. When he left RCA in 1966 (after 12 years), he worked for Singer Link Simulation for 27 years as a technical proposal writer and editor.
After living in Lanham, Maryland for 39 years, in March, 2005, Dick and Elise moved to the Robin Run Retirement Village in Indianapolis, IN.
Dick and Elise enjoyed travel and took many trips in the US, Europe and New Zealand. They also enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students. Dick enjoyed reading and learning about current events and new ideas. He had an interest in cars and enjoyed games, including playing bridge, ping pong, shuffleboard and going to movies.
Dick is survived by sister Winnifred (Winnie) Willson, Interlaken, NY; daughter Cynthia (Cindy) J. Grimm and her husband Robert (Bob) L. Grimm of Zionsville, IN; granddaughter Katherine E. Grimm of Columbus, OH; son Thomas (Tom) R. Jennings and his wife Sarah Liu Jennings and granddaughter Elise M. Jennings and grandson Joshua L. Jennings of Vernon, NJ. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elise.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Zionsville United Methodist church, 9644 Whitestown Road, Zionsville, IN, where Dick was a member, on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 2p.m. Visitation will be before and after the service. His ashes will be interred in his hometown cemetery in Lodi, New York.
