Forrest S. "Woody" English, born May 15, 1926, went to his Heavenly Home February 17, 2015. He was 88 years young. Woody was born and raised on a small farm in southeastern Ohio. He graduated at the age of 16 as the valedictorian from Bethel High School in 1942. He attended N.Y.A. Electricians School in West Virginia from 1942-1943. He served in WWII from 1944-1946 on a submarine in the Pacific as an Electricians Mate aboard the U.S.S. Cachelot. He graduated with honors and a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ohio in 1949. From 1950-1958, Woody worked for General Electric Power Company at various U.S. locations as a Development Engineer, Design Engineer, Application Engineer, and Sales Engineer. He moved to Indianapolis in 1954. He then joined the firm, Cory, Crum, & English, Inc. He was the proud owner of three J.D. Byrider franchises. His hobbies included golf, playing with his great-grandchildren, and sports. He was a former member of The Country Club of Indianapolis and is a current member at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, IN and the longest season ticket holder for the Indiana
Pacers, going back to the 1967-68 season. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances E. "Cookie" English, his three sons, Daniel English, Michael English, and Thomas English (Debbie English-daughter-in-law). He is also survived by his daughter-in-love, Pamela Eversole, and her husband, Dean Eversole. He has one grand-daughter, Sallie Smith. She is married to Jared Smith and they have two children, Aaron Smith and Olivia Smith. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Lori Switzer, Matt Cox, and Brad Cox. There will be a viewing open to the public on Friday, February 20th, from 1-4pm at Grace Fellowship Church in Avon, Indiana. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow.
