Tribute & Message From The Family

Mrs. Rosa Catherine Thrash (MaaMaa), the daughter of the late Ernest and Susie Moss was born December 21, 1924 in Montgomery County, Tennessee. She received her education at Montgomery County High school. She was a graduate of Madam C.J. Walker Beauty College where she received a degree in Cosmetology.
Her friends lovingly referred to her as Catherine. While at home, she was affectionately known as "MaaMaa" by all of her grand-children. Mrs. Thrash professed her love for Christ at an early age at Bolling Springs Baptist Church in Tennessee and joined Galilee Baptist Church after moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. She later moved her membership to Greater Galilee Baptist Church. She truly loved the Lord and served in her church as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was joined in holy matrimony to James Milam in 1942 and from that union; she was blessed with two daughters, Susie Maxine and Anna Louise. In 1959, Catherine became Mrs. Thrash when she married Charles Thrash Jr. an Army veteran. Mr. Thrash preceded her in death in 1972. Catherine worked at St. Francis Hospital as a Nurse's Aide for thirty-three years. She was devoted to her work, serving her patients with love and compassion.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend who will always be remembered for her quick wit and cheerful personality. Catherine loved to travel and dress up and she was admired for the beautiful hats that she wore with style and class. She was a great cook and loved having family and friends over for a delicious "Sunday" dinner. Sunday was always a special day for her. She made the best fried chicken and delicious turnip greens.
Mrs. Rosa Catherine Thrash departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the age of 90 years old. We bow in humble submission to our Lord and we thank Him for the gift of Rosa Catherine Thrash. Her parents and siblings (one brother and 2 sisters) preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her two loving daughters, Susie Maxine Hayles and Anna Louise Bailey (James); son, Curtis Watkins five grandchildren, Tonya Milam, Kimberly "Kim" Porter, Curtricia "Trish" Jackson (John), Delana "DeeDee" Watkins, Cheritha Doucet (Herbert), seven great grandchildren, Tashana, Ash Lee, E'lon, Anyea, Blake, Herbert, Micah and Taylor, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Humbly submitted by the Family
