Tribute & Message From The Family

Jack Stage, 87, Westfield, passed away July 8, 2015. He was born May 1, 1928, in East Chicago, the son of the late Chester Heater and Nora (Bradburn) Partridge. He was raised by Clarence and LaVaughn Stage in Elwood, IN, who preceded him in passing.

Jack was a United States Marine who served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He fought in the battles of Tarawa, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was an active church member of the Palatka Baptist Temple for the past 25 years and a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge. Jack was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, and he enjoyed watching westerns and listening to old-time classic country music. Hank Williams Sr. was a life-long favorite. You could often see Jack tooling around on his beloved scooter on the streets of Palatka, running errands and joking with friends. He will be remembered by most for his sense of humor and ornery temperament.

He is survived by four children, Georgia (John) Mott of Interlachen, FL, Terry (Lorraine) Stage of Griffith, IN, Betty (Sam) Field of Valparaiso, IN and Theresa (Ken) Brant of Westfield, IN. He is survived by 13 grandkids, Carre Callahan, Kimberly (Joseph) Yohn, Jason Mott, Ryan (Catie) Stage, Colin Stage, Alison Stage, Elizabeth (Jason) Schaefer, Sammy Field, Danny (Rachel) Field, Stephen Anderson, Kristina Anderson, Brian Field and 15 great grandkids, Raven, Riku, Alexandera, Preston, Anthony, Harper, Dominic, Charissma, Ollie, Izzabellah, Marley, Jaxson, Jason, Issach and Mason. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Betty Stage; two sons, Charles Stage and Dennis Stage; great granddaughter Alexia Ortiz; siblings, Chuck Heater, Betty Neagu, Helen Buzalski, Bertha Richmond, LaVaughn Sheppard; and his beloved Lois.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. (EST) Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place 1:00 p.m. (CST), Friday, July 17, 2015, at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Palatka Baptist Church, 908 North SR 19, Palatka, FL 32177. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.flannerbuchanan.com.
