Tribute & Message From The Family

Edith "Edie" Finkbeiner

93, of Indianapolis and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on July 13, 2015. She was born February 18, 1922 in North Bessemer (Pittsburgh area), Pennsylvania, to Rose (Dedda) and Michael Mastropier, both immigrants from Italy. Edie was the last surviving sibling of 9 sisters and brothers.
She graduated from Penn Township High School in 1939.
She married James A. Finkbeiner, a decorated (Purple Heart and Bronze Star) army veteran of WWII, who preceded Edie in death.
Edie worked 50 years as a clerical worker for Union Switch & Signal in Pittsburgh. She retired to Indianapolis in 2001 to be near her sister Evron Mae Smetak, Evron Mae's daughter Sandy Tipton (Edie's niece), son-in-law Dave Tipton and granddaughter Maddy Tipton. Edie was Maddy's "second maternal grandmother."
Edie loved taking care of and spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and traveling. She was a hard worker, fun-loving, caring, independent, giving and conscientious.
Edie is survived by several nieces and nephews scattered across the country, including Sandy Tipton, Jayne Cecere-Peng, Jennifer Cecere, Joelyn Cecere and Rose Jeans, all formerly of Richmond, Indiana.
