Katherine (Karastergiou) Mishel passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, July 24, 2015. Born on July 22, 1928 in Kavala, Greece, she was one of four children born to Stelios and Zoe Karastergiou. Dearly beloved wife of the late Michael Mishel, she is survived by her devoted children, Joyce (Stelios) Raptis and Alex Mishel. Loving yiayia of Leah (Milutin) Miloradovic, Yanni Raptis, Alexis and Anna Mishel and adoring great grandmother to Elena Miloradovic. She is also survived by her brother Vasilios and sister Marika in Greece, as well as many relatives and friends in Greece and throughout Indiana.

She was a dedicated member of SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Merrillville, Indiana. Her joys in life included her family, cooking, and spending time with friends. She was a selfless, kind, and amazing woman, always with a smile on her face. She lived her life with dignity and strength and left the same way.

Calling will be held Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm with the Trisagion at 5:00 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 3500 West 106th Street Carmel, Indiana 46032. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 am C.S.T. at SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church 8000 Madison Street Merrillville, IN 46410.

Donations in Katherine's memory may be made to either Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Carmel or SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Merrillville.
