To our Dear Friends the Carlson family
We are saddened by the loss of the Carlson patriarch as we remember so many fond memories of Al being the generous host and embracing moments, events, dinners , sporting events , family functions with an emphasis on creating joy for his family and others. His clever wit and" jokes a plenty" made it easy to be in his presence and the laugh being the Carlson trademark kept you coming back for more. His family was first, with Purdue probably coming a close second but as friends you always felt you were part of their extended family. We will miss Al and our thoughts are with Carol, the kids and grandkids as they remember and celebrate the memories of an extraordinary man.

To my wonderful extended family....Mom, Craig, Steph, Reed, Kris and all of the kids, "Poppa" was so special to me and the countless people that had the experience to know him. The memories with all of you will never be forgotten and forever cherished as some of the most fun and crazy times! We are lucky to have been touched by such an incredible man! I know you all are fortunate to have been able to call him Husband, Dad, and Grandpa! I was blessed just knowing him and your wonderful family. Carol, Craig, Stephanie, Reed, Kristen and all your family: Our hearts are heavy for the loss you are experiencing and you are all in our prayers. Your family has always been special to us and especially to Danny, who for many years was so much a part of your family joining you on special adventures, mostly on the boat, a relationship that has continued through the years. Al was always so welcoming to the young people that always wanted to be a part of the fun. He has left many memories that will not quickly be forgotten. The photo you posted Stephanie, from his military years showed he was one handsome gentleman. It will take time to transition this loss, but know that we will be covering you with our prayers. Lovingly, Dick and Barbara Williams

I'm so sorry for your loss. 'Big Al' had a gift for making you feel special; like you were the only person in the room. I've never forgotten the lessons he taught me about navigating their house boat on Lake Monroe. A tear of sadness and a quiet prayer for God's peace I send to you, Kristen, and your entire family.

I have the most wonderful memories of Mr. Carlson. His daughter Stephanie was one of my really good friends and he always made our group of friends feel so welcome at their home. One of my greatest memories was when Stephanie invited a group of us on their houseboat. We camped nearby and went waterskiing and tubing!! Being a parent now, I can see just how generous Mr. Carlson was to allow all these teenage girls on his house boat and ski boat. What a wonderful jokester he was. I feel blessed to have spent time with the Carlson family and especially to have known Mr. Carlson. Thanks for the wonderful memories. What an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.
