Kathy Whelan Walters, 53, of Indianapolis, died at 1:00 pm on Monday August 17th, 2015 at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital surrounded by her close family members.

She was born March 28th, 1962 in Peoria, IL. She attended Bergan High School. She later gradated from Purdue University School of Nursing in West Lafayette, IN with a RN/BSN degree. She married John Walters on August 3rd, 1985 at St. Lawrence Church in Lafayette, IN. She worked as a registered nurse at multiple locations including University Hospital, St. Vincent's Children's Hospital and Riverview Hospital. Most of her career was spent working in a private pediatric office for Dr. Scott Riddell. She is a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Kathy enjoyed arts and crafts including quilt making, card making, beadwork, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed taking family vacations especially camping and spending time on the beach. Kathy worked as a team captain for the family relay for life team raising money for the American Cancer Society. Most of all she enjoyed watching her children grow up and attending all of their sporting events such as baseball, soccer, dance and gymnastics.

Survived by her husband John Walters, her son Kyle Walters (wife: Jessica Walters) and her daughter Caitlin Walters (fiancée: Chad Canal). Also survived by her mother Dalene Whelan, her father James Whelan, her brother Kevin Whelan, her brother Tim Whelan (wife: Tere) and her sister Maureen Whelan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
