To the Thompsons,I grew up with Nikkies maternal grandmother,He came from a wonderful family, but when Nikkies mother was born she had alot wrong. It was so very sad. This family had numerous miscarriages and finally Hope was the only one who survived of the children.Hope knew she could not take care of Nikkie or Cody is why she signed for Nikkie to be adopted. You have been a blessing to this little guy,I rode his bus as helper with Janie Riggs and met Beth .Thank you for being such beautiful people in that little boys life, Cody is with a foster mother who will do absolutely everything for him.Cody is blessed to have Lora too.Thank you and my God Bless you.

THE DASH

I read of a man who stood to speak,
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone,
From the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of his birth,
And spoke of the following date with tears.
But he said what mattered most of all,
Was the dash between those years.

For it matters not how much we own,
The carsthe homesthe cash.
What mattes is how we live and love,
And how we spent our dash.

So think about this long and hard,
Are there still things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If you could just slow down enough,
To consider what's true and real.
And always try to understand,
The way other people feel.

To be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more.
And love the people in our lives,
Like we've never loves before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering this special dash,
Might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read,
With your life's actions in rehash,
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

I recall Janet and Mike telling me that many people had told them that Nicolas was blessed to have them as parents; however, it was the opposite in their eyes. They were the ones blessed by having Nicholas in their lives. Your family is an inspiration to many, Mike and Janet. Thank you both for choosing to pass his life unto others. Nicholas was a blessing during his life and in passing. Our thoughts have been with your family daily.

I now picture Nicholas up above with no physical restraints: laughing, flipping and transforming into everything Harry Potter, and enjoying every second of it!

I just wanted to say that all of us at Springhill Medical Center are thinking of you both at this very sad time. We will miss seeing his warm happy face around the office! He had such a fulfilling life thanks to the two of you! For all that Nick could not do here on earth I have to smile thinking that he is in Heaven right now running and jumping and speaking to the Lord! May God bless you both for the life you helped him to have here on earth and I extend to you my deepest condolences. Sincerely, Natasha

Tho we have never met Mike and his wife or little Nick we feel as tho we have met thru emails and photos which we have passed back and forth over the years.. Nick was and is a beautiful little boy who we will never forget for his love of life and for the joy he he spread to those whose lives he touched. It is fitting that such an exceptional child should spend his brief life with exceptional people such as Mike and his wife. We know you made so many of his dreams on earth come true, what a blessing you were to each other. May God continue to smile upon all of you. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you daily during this most difficult time.

I only remember Nicholas when he was a baby. He was very loving and he loved all the attention. Sadly I know he is going to be missed by many! It takes someone very special to take care of a special child in need and for that, you are wonderful! Nicholas is running and playing up in Heaven now with our good Lord, and as everyone may shed a tear down on Earth, he is laughing and smiling down on us because he is in no pain......Thank You for raising him into the hansome little man he was!!!

Nick loved life and lived to his fullest everyday.Nick taught me so much about believing and living without fear ! I know Nick is running and has been made new ! While remaining the sweet boy who loved school.

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain,"Move from here to there" and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you .

I don't know if you remember me. I'm friends with Jodie, Beth Fox, and Susan Fort is my dearest friend. I want to thank you for Nicky's organ donation. When we think of organ donations, with have a tendancy to think of the single lives that were saved because of the donations. What we often don't think of is because one or more lives were saved, these recipients may go on to have families of their own. Then their children have children and their children have children, etc. Hundreds or even thousands of babies may be born because one little boy lived...and died. Your little boy. In your darkest hours I truly hope that this thought will bring you some comfort. You have been and, will continue to be, in my thoughts and prayers. Pam Curts

Dear Hicks-Thompson Family,

There are few things more difficult than dealing with the loss of a loved one. We, along with our staff, are honored and humbled that you have chosen our family to care for your family during this time. It is our hope that we have been able, in some small way, to lighten your burden and give proper reverence to a life lived. Please let us know if we can be of further service.

Respectfully,
