Tribute & Message From The Family

On September 28, 2012, God blessed our lives with a 15 ounce, 11 inch miracle we named Caleb Lucas. Although his future was uncertain, we knew he was sent by God in perfect timing. God never makes mistakes and He gives His best to His children. God gifted our family with a tiny missionary who touched hundreds of lives during his 21 days on earth.
On October 19, 2012, we had to say "see you later" to our precious baby boy. Pete and I were able to spend several hours with Caleb before he went to meet Jesus. We were able to hold him, kiss him, sing to him... It was an afternoon filled with moments that are now fond memories.
We are eternally grateful for the "bonus time" we had with Caleb. Some people never get to be parents, so we know this was an honor. We are humbled that God chose us to be Caleb's parents.
Caleb will never be forgotten. We will always be attached, as he is our firstborn and we love him dearly. Even though Caleb's residence is in heaven and ours is here on earth, we will see him again someday.

In lieu of a service, we have chosen to have this memorial page in Caleb's honor.
Special thanks to each of you who walked with us during this journey. We are grateful for each display of love and sympathy.

With Love,
Peter and Elizabeth

Pete and Elizabeth, you two are an example of what living by faith really means. I've learned a lot from this situation and I thank God, Caleb, and you and Pete! I am sad that you only got a few weeks with Caleb but then I'm happy that you got a few weeks with Caleb. I don't really know what to say because words seem so inadequate. Just know that I love you very much and one day we'll see each other again. You and Pete take the time you need to heal and know that you are surrounded by friends and family and the God of this amazing universe.

There aren't words in our language sufficient to soothe a grieving parent's heart but God's healing touch can take you to new levels I do believe. Caleb was here such a short time but taught us all we are but mortals living & fighting towards an immortal world--he just got to run into Jesus' arms
sooner than we did. He proved you can fight through so much regardless of the odds or circumstances. He came into your lives and ours for such a time as this & it was so precious. Thank you for sharing so much of the intimate thoughts of your hearts & souls in this journey of love, faith & family. The best thing I think is Jesus loves the little children all the children of the world--Caleb is in those arms now with no tubes, tape or machines & he is waiting for the family reunion you will get to enjoy together!! Love to all of you & prayers
too, Aunt Molly & Uncle Paul

Thanks to Kathy Whitney for bringing your family and sweet lil Caleb's condition into our prayer group. We continue to pray for you and your family during this difficult time and I must admit that the posts that Kathy would share with us just totally touched and blessed my heart as I read them. Caleb, while he was so very small and fighting so hard, was the most precious gift from God. God calling him home so early breaks my heart but I know God has a great plan and little Caleb was able to do so much in such a short time. Please accept my heart felt condolences on your family's loss and thank you for allowing us to join in on his journey! May the Lord bless you and your family completely and may he use Caleb's story for many years to come! ~hugs from NC~

Liz and Pete, I can't express how sorry I am for the loss of your precious Caleb. My family and I have followed your story from day one and you guys are truly an inspiration. Your faith is so strong and that showed in every one of your posts and updates. We have continued to pray for you guys and thought about you everyday throughout your journey. Our son was born premature and spent 7 weeks in the hospital so we know how hard it is to have a child in the NICU. You guys remained so strong for Caleb and he sure is blessed to have you two as his parents. Thank you for sharing your story as the three of you have touched so many lives. May God bless you and give you comfort during this time!

Now he is with Jesus in heaven playing with 3 lil Angels who are special to me and they are running and playing and Jesus is holding them tight. There are few things more difficult than dealing with the loss of a loved one. We, along with our staff, are honored and humbled that you have chosen our family to care for your family during this time. It is our hope that we have been able, in some small way, to lighten your burden and give proper reverence to a life lived. Please let us know if we can be of further service.
