Obituary

Our beloved Amber Renee' Pratcher, was born on June 14, 1979, to Benjamin Franklin Curtis, and Cora Tucker Curtis, the second of four siblings.
She attended Pike School System, and excelled in her studies. She graduated from Pike High School in 1997, and matriculated to Ball State University earning a Bachelor of Art Degree in Mass Communication. She also attended Indiana University Bloomington, earning a Master's Degree in Higher Education. Never feeling content to rest on her laurels, she obtained a second Master's Degree in Informatics Technology.
In 2001, Amber joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and worked diligently to make a major difference through the organization. She was the visionary behind RealZetas.com and she authored the book #IAMZETA which profiled prominent Zeta women, revealing accounts of their lives as pertaining to their affiliation with the sorority. Amber was the epitome of Finer Womanhood and represented Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on every platform with purpose and excellence. She was also the personification of Progressive Greeks, serving in local, state, regional and national offices, often at the same time.
Amber accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with Northside New Era Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. In 2003 Amber met the love of her life, Jonya Pratcher They were united in holy matrimony August 27, 2005 and from this union their son, Jaden Benjamin, was born. She was a good wife and mother and had compassion for children born with birth defects. She actively involved her husband and son in walk-a-thons and raised funds from sponsors who gladly supported her. An avid progressive activist who participated in many community activities, Amber made a positive impact in every opportunity she participated in. Although her life was short, she lived to fulfill her destiny. Her accomplishments are too numerous to mention, however, those who knew her are aware of the causes she supported and the accolades earned for her efforts. Still she remained humble, never flaunting her achievements. She gave of herself tirelessly and inspired many youths to pursue a college education, providing wise counsel to those who failed to live up to their potential or seemed to have no hope to enhance their quality of life. On Monday July 20, 2015, she transitioned to Eternity.
