Sharon Kaye (McGee) Berry Born in 1942 Anderson, IN. Died March 15, 2015 as a result of a car accident. She is daughter of Alva Otho and Ruby Hall McGee. She graduated from Madison Heights in 1960. She graduated from Beauty School in Anderson, IN and worked as a beautician. She married George H. Berry Jr. of Pendleton, IN in 1962. Sharon and George were youth group leaders at the Pendleton Church of God. Their family also attended Arrow Heights Church of God Of Anderson Indiana. When their family moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1974 they attended the First Church of God and also worked with the youth. Upon returning to Indianapolis in 1993 she attended the Church at the Crossing Church of God and served as a Note Writer for the Prayer Team.
Sharon provided her children the example of Adult Education when she completed her Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate in 1972 and started working in Critical Care at Anderson Community Hospital.
After moving to Davenport, Iowa with her family she began work at Franciscan Medical Center (Trinity West) and help develop the Gastroenterology Lab in the Ambulatory Care Center. She later became a Certified Gastroenterology Assistant.
In 1993 Sharon and George returned to Indianapolis, IN to assist in their daughter's medical care after her head injury. George attended Ivy Tech and Sharon fulfilled her lifelong dream of working as a Nurse at Methodist. After her husband's heart transplant in 1995 Sharon continued working full-time at Methodist while attending Marian University and received her ADN and became a Registered Nurse in 1997. Sharon loved Nursing in the Cardiac Critical Care area. She enjoyed training and mentoring other nurses throughout her career. Upon her retirement from Methodist of Indiana University Health in 2010 she worked full-time at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana on the Brain Injury Unit for two years. Sharon continued to work part-time for RN & Allied Specialties at a Senior Day Care program and for Total Wellness Health Clinics.
In 1994 Sharon and her Berry family volunteered in a two year program to learn to train Service Dogs to allow her daughter to have a Service dog. Sharon and her family continued to raise and train golden retrievers for her daughter and was a strong advocate and educator about service dogs and disability awareness until her death.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Alva O. & Ruby Hall McGee, her brother Donald K. McGee, granddaughter Caroline Jaffari, and niece Gwynn Berry. Sharon is survived by her three children Melissa K. Berry, Indianapolis; Martin K. (Gladys) Berry, Escondido, California; and Milon K. (Kelvey); grandchildren Nicholas Jaffari, Elizabeth Jafarri, and Andrew K. Berry, Her sister-in-law Myrna (Gustafson) McGee, and she is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved very much.
Sharon will be known for her positive outlook, strong faith, sweet smile, and desire to serve her family, patients, and co-workers who loved and highly respected Sharon as friend and mentor.
Visitation (1:30-3:30) and Service starting at 3:30pm will be at Flanner Buchannan Washington Park North. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made at
