Don E. Christy 72 of Plainfield, IN went to be with the Lord November 15, 2008. Don was the retired Assistant Chief for the Division of Land Site Acquisitions for the State of Indiana for 45 years and served for 39 years with the Indiana National Guard retiring at the rank of Colonel. Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoying fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and just being out in nature. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and was an awesome husband, dad and paps. Don was loved and will be missed by his wife, Shirley L. (Brennan) Christy; children, David (Dawn) Christy, Jane Glendy (deceased), Donna (Jeff Daupert) Christy, Jerry Christy; grandchildren, Daphne and Andi-K Glendy, Kyle and Donny Christy; sister, Ann May and his faithful companions, Annie and Honey. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 21, 2008 1 p.m. at Seerley Creek Christian Church 3550 S. Lynhurst Drive in Indianapolis, IN which he was a long time member and chairman of the Elders. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 20th 2 to 9 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Decatur Township with additional visitation at the church on Friday one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the service at White Lick Cemetery where military honors will be given. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Seerley Creek Christian Church.
