James M. Roberts 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 27, 2013. This beloved family man attended Little Flower Catholic grade school where he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Sanders. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948 where he played basketball. Jim married Mary Lou in 1950, attended Xavier University and graduated in 1952, and then proudly served two years in the United States Navy as Lieutenant JG. This loving father of five was a long-standing member of St. Lawrence Catholic parish where he started the basketball program in 1961. He continued to coach all of his sons for over fifteen years.

Jim Roberts started his own business, Mid-State Chemical Supply Corporation in 1966 and served as its Founder and President until 1999. In his retirement years, Jim served on the Board of Trustees at Cathedral High School. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, boating and golf.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou, and five children: Stephen J. (Julie) Roberts, Lisa M. (Dan) Coffey, Timothy R. (Katie) Roberts, Vincent M. (Peggy) Roberts and Christopher J. (Julia) Roberts. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren: Amanda, Chelsie, Jasmine, Tyler, Luc, Anya, Nikki, Alexa, Kristin, Patrick, Kevin, Kyle, Christie, Matt, Rachel, Eric, Brian and Colin, and eight great-grandchildren: Ella, Lucy, Kaden, Oliver, Crosby, Quinn, Laney and Teresa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 30 at 1 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 6950 E. 46th Street, Indianapolis, with entombment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29 from 4-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a rosary service at 7:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral High School General Scholarship Fund, Attn: Liz Hoffman, 5225 E. 56th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46226, or Masses may be given.
