Mark Thomas Chasteen 51, Camby, passed away October 8, 2006 amid the presence of his family and friends. As was the case throughout his life, he knew that he was cared for and loved. Mark was born on July 6, 1955 to Shirley Linder Chasteen of Camby, IN, and she survives Mark. Mark attended the West Newton and Plainfield Schools, and graduated from Brownsburg High School. Mark served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman. Mark was a journeyman carpenter for Linder Construction for over 30 years, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #758. Mark met B. Jeannie Smith in 1984, and spent the last 22 years with her as his best friend and "wife." She survives him. Mark was "Daddy" to Misty Zollars, and Steven and Markie Chasteen, who preceded him in death in 1979. Ryan Smith also preceded Mark in death in 1996. Mark is survived by Lisa Kahrig and his grandson, Derek; sister, Cathy (Warren) Chasteen Goodman of Columbia, TN; nephews, Geoffrey (Janean) Newkirk of Chapel Hill, TN, Gregory Goodman of Murfreesboro, TN; great-niece, Mackenzie Ann-Marie Newkirk; great-nephew, Noah Wade Newkirk of Chapel Hill, TN; special beloved family members, Aunt Dixie Spragg, Uncle Louis Linder, Jr., Jimmy Linder; cousins, Christy Arevalo, Paul Thomas Spragg, Renie Bratten, Rhonda Huberts, and all of their beautiful children whom Mark enjoyed immensely; half-brother, Tony of Brooklyn, IN; and half-sister, Lisa of Indianapolis, IN. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center- Decatur, with Pastor John Parsley officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, as well as from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be at Fairfield Friends Cemetery, Camby, IN. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
