Wanda F. Schmutzler

Wanda F. Schmutzler 85, Zionsville, died peacefully Thursday, May 15, 2008. She was born to the late Earl and Ruby Schnarr Geisler in Portersville, IN on February 27, 1923. She was married for 45 years to Emil Schmutzler, an Indiana state senator from 1967-70. Wanda established Babes and Tots Child Care Center in Indianapolis, and later worked at Noah's Ark Preschool, Zionsville. Wanda is remembered as a caring and devoted mother with a remarkable sense of humor. She is survived by her children Kurt, Mark, and Scott Schmutzler (Nancy) and Ann Schmutzler Miller (Don). She leaves behind grandchildren Katherine, Benjamin, Brian, Kyle, Jake, Adam, and Emily; and great grandson Sam. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends and sisters, Marilee Husselman (Tom) and Pat McLeod (Bob). Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Sarah Miller, and sister Betty Galloway. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Advent Lutheran Church, 11250 N. Michigan Rd., with calling at the church two hours prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Advent Lutheran Church Stained Glass Fund.
